Failoni Donatella, prominent pianist and opera official, dies at 79
Failoni Donatella, the renowned Italian-Hungarian concert pianist and former artistic general secretary of the Hungarian State Opera, has died at the age of 79, just one week before her 80th birthday.
Born in Milan, Donatella maintained a distinguished international career. She studied at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music under Pál Kadosa and György Kurtág and won several international piano competitions. Her professional life included serving as a soloist for the National Philharmonic and holding significant administrative roles within the Hungarian musical community.
Her daughter, actress Alexandra Oszter, announced the passing, describing her mother as a “teacher of the arts, beauty, and elegance.” The family noted that Donatella’s final years were marked by health challenges and the loss of her husband, the acclaimed actor Sándor Oszter, who passed away in 2021. Alexandra Oszter expressed her intention to preserve her mother’s legacy by documenting her life and writings.
