Pianoro traffic accident claims life of 62-year-old man

A fatal traffic accident occurred in the municipality of Pianoro, in the province of Bologna, involving a scooter and a car. Mirco Maritan, a 62-year-old man from the province of Ferrara, was riding a Yamaha T Max 500 when he collided with a Fiat Panda traveling in the opposite direction near the Ponte della Boaria.

Preliminary investigations suggest the car, driven by a 76-year-old woman, turned left toward Pian di Macina/Sasso Marconi, leading to the impact on the right side of the vehicle. Maritan was thrown onto the asphalt and, despite being transported by helicopter to the Maggiore Hospital in Bologna with maximum severity, he passed away during transit. Local police are conducting investigations to clarify the exact dynamics of the crash.
