Piatra-Neamț installs first smart climate corridor
Piatra-Neamț has installed its first "smart climate corridor," an eco-friendly system designed to cool pedestrians during heatwaves by spraying a fine curtain of water. The project, initiated by Mayor Adrian Niță, is the first of its kind in the country.
The system operates automatically when outdoor temperatures reach 27 degrees Celsius. It runs for 15 minutes continuously, followed by a 5-minute break, consuming approximately 15 liters of water per hour. The installation includes temperature and humidity sensors and is designed to stop automatically if it begins to rain. At night, the corridor is illuminated.
Four additional systems are planned for high-traffic areas, including the hospital zone, Orion-Dărmănești, Unic, and the History Museum. Each new location will feature a modern drinking water fountain equipped with an active carbon filter and a "Pet Point" water station for animals.
