Piatra Neamt police investigate death of pregnant woman

Authorities in Piatra Neamt are investigating the death of a pregnant woman who fell from the fourth floor of an apartment building during the night of August 22-23. The woman, aged 37 or 38, was approximately 22 weeks pregnant.

Police reports indicate that after the fall, the woman's 42-year-old partner allegedly picked her up and carried her back into the apartment instead of immediately calling for emergency services. It was not until approximately two hours later that a 112 call was placed. Although medical crews managed to resuscitate her and transport her to the hospital, she later succumbed to her injuries.

The partner reportedly told investigators he attempted to catch her but failed. Neighbors noted that the couple was frequently involved in arguments. A criminal investigation has been opened regarding charges of manslaughter and failure to assist a person in difficulty.
