Piauí and Maranhão launch joint police operation in Teresina-Timon region
Military Police forces from Piauí and Maranhão have launched 'Operação Comandos Integrados' to combat organized crime, drug trafficking, and the illegal circulation of firearms along the border between Teresina and Timon.
The operation involves more than 160 officers, 50 vehicles, and two helicopters. Security measures include street barriers, continuous approaches, and the deployment of Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology on the three bridges crossing the Parnaíba River to identify stolen or restricted vehicles in real time.
In addition to the Military Police, the initiative is supported by the Civil Police of both states, Municipal Guards, the Fire Department, and the Federal Highway Police (PRF). The mission also aims to locate and capture fugitives from justice.
