Piauí police report criminal migration from Ceará to coastal regions

The Piauí Military Police have reported a migration of criminal organizations from Ceará to the coastal municipalities of Piauí, specifically targeting Luís Correia and Cajueiro da Praia. Colonel Erisvaldo Viana, commander of the North Central Coastal Policing, stated that approximately 95% of individuals arrested or killed in police incidents in these two cities over the last six months were natives of Ceará.

In response to this trend, authorities have intensified security operations, including the implementation of roadblocks and barriers to mitigate the movement of criminal groups into the state. This increased police presence follows reports of threats and expulsion orders spray-painted on properties in the Beira-Mar neighborhood of Luís Correia, which the Civil Police attributed to disputes between criminal organizations.
