Piauí students win awards at Mostratec for AI educational project

Students from the Ceti Patronato Nossa Senhora de Lourdes school in Campo Maior, Piauí, received awards at Mostratec, Latin America's largest science and technology fair. The team, consisting of Davi Costa Andrade, Hernandes Sales Neves, and Glauber Alexandre Alcântara, placed among the top five in the Computer Science category for their project “Artificial Intelligence in Educational Scenarios: Mindz as a Practical Experience.”

Guided by professor Rosiana Ibiapina, the project utilizes AI to help students and teachers create mind maps and organize ideas to foster autonomy rather than dependency. This achievement follows the implementation of Artificial Intelligence as a formal subject in Piauí's full-time state schools starting in 2024.

Broadly, the integration of technology in education aligns with global trends regarding the future of work. Reports from the World Economic Forum and the OECD indicate that approximately 22% of jobs will undergo changes by 2030, with 170 million new roles expected to emerge. These shifts emphasize the necessity of continuous learning and core competencies such as digital literacy, mathematics, adaptive problem-solving, and socio-emotional skills.
