Piazza Affari rises 1.6% led by banks and Technoprobe

The Milan stock exchange, Piazza Affari, closed up 1.6% on September 21, 2026. The market rally was driven by strong performances in the banking and technology sectors, alongside falling crude oil prices and diplomatic developments regarding Iran.

In the banking sector, Banco Bpm rose 4.3%, Bper increased by 1.9%, and MPS gained 1.8%. Unicredit saw a 3.2% rise following the approval of its board of directors list, which has fueled speculation regarding a potential joint operation with Credit Agricole.

Additionally, Ariston and De Nora saw increases of 4.9% and 4.4% respectively, following the allocation of 50 million euros in public contributions.
