Piazza Cittadella redevelopment: Associations launch public consultation

Associations including Piacenza Mosaico, Italia Nostra, and Laboratorio Popolare della Cultura e dell’Arte have launched a self-managed public consultation regarding the redevelopment of Piazza Cittadella. The survey asks citizens to choose between the Arcadis project, proposed by the Municipal Council at a cost exceeding 100,000 euros, and an alternative concept inspired by poet Bruna Milani.

The Milani-inspired proposal focuses on urban regeneration through greenery, trees, and a fountain oriented toward Palazzo Farnese. The organizing associations noted that any final design must include a georadar survey, which they claim has yet to be conducted despite previous announcements. They suggested that such surveys could potentially reveal opportunities for an underground archaeological park to increase local tourism.

The initiative stems from what the organizers describe as a discrepancy between administration proposals and public will, citing delays in the tender process for the executive design and implementation of the redevelopment works.
