Piazza Leonardo Leo nominated for FAI ‘Luoghi del cuore’

Piazza Leonardo Leo, a central social and cultural landmark in San Vito dei Normanni, has been officially nominated for the thirteenth edition of ‘I Luoghi del Cuore’. This national census is organized by the FAI – Fondo per l’Ambiente Italiano in collaboration with Intesa Sanpaolo and under the patronage of the Ministry of Culture.

The nomination originated from a spontaneous entry by an anonymous enthusiast. In response, the Pro Loco San Vito dei Normanni ‘Porta del Salento’ has launched a community mobilization campaign to promote local heritage. The voting period is currently active, with a target of securing at least 3,000 votes.

Reaching this threshold would allow the square to apply for a FAI-supported enhancement project in 2027. Such an intervention would aim to complete urban furnishings, increase greenery, clean building facades, and improve the site's capacity for cultural events, particularly during the summer season.
