Picasso print stolen in 2018 recovered in Milwaukee

A signed Pablo Picasso print, titled ‘Torero’, has been recovered in Milwaukee after being stolen from the DeLind Fine Art Appraisals gallery in 2018. The artwork, valued between 35,000 and 50,000 euros, was discovered by real estate owner Tim Dertz while he was cleaning an apartment following an eviction.

Dertz reported finding the piece hanging on a wall, noting it appeared to have been there for a long time due to a heavy accumulation of dust. After the discovery, the print was handed over to the Milwaukee Police. Gallery owner Bill DeLind confirmed the work's authenticity by identifying the gallery's sticker on the back of the frame.

The Milwaukee Police Department is continuing its investigation into the theft. The artwork remains in police custody while insurance procedures are finalized.
