Pichidegua security guard shot during violent farm robbery

A security guard is in critical condition after being shot during a violent robbery at the Cuesta La Torina farm in Pichidegua, Chile. The incident occurred on the morning of Sunday, August 23, 2026, at a property owned by Agrícola Lyon.

At least seven armed individuals, wearing hoods and posing as investigators from the PDI (Investigative Police), arrived at the site in three vehicles to intimidate workers during a shift change. During a struggle, one of the assailants shot the guard in the abdomen. The victim was rushed to the Santa Cruz Hospital, where he remains in serious condition.

The suspects fled the scene with various stolen items. The Prosecutor's Office has assigned the Organized Crime and Homicide Teams (ECOH) and the Robbery Brigade (BIRO) of the PDI to investigate the robbery and locate the perpetrators.
