Pichuco Festival in Archi honors tango legend Aníbal Troilo

The Pichuco Festival took place on 25‑26 July 2026 in the historic village of Archi, province of Chieti in Abruzzo, Italy. Organized by the cultural association Pichuco and Friends, the second edition celebrated the life and music of Argentine tango composer and bandoneonist Aníbal Troilo (1914‑1975), whose grandparents emigrated from Archi to Argentina in 1880.

The programme featured the internationally renowned tango duo Miguel Ángel Zotto and Daiana Guspero, who performed and presented workshops. The opening ceremony was attended by Mayor Nicola De Laurentis, association president Leonardo Porreca, journalist Barbara Del Fallo as moderator, and Francisco Torné, a descendant of Troilo and member of the National Academy of Tango. The event received high patronage from the Regione Abruzzo.
