Pick n Pay appoints Spencer Sonn as CEO-designate

Pick n Pay has appointed Spencer Sonn as its CEO-designate to lead a planned leadership transition. Sonn, a former Woolworths Food executive with over 26 years of experience in the grocery retail sector, is scheduled to join the company in February 2027.

Sonn will work closely with the current CEO, Sean Summers, to ensure continuity as the retailer continues its turnaround efforts. This orderly transition period is intended to support the business through its current restructuring before Summers’ tenure concludes in May 2028.
