Pickleball popularity grows across the Philippines
Pickleball is experiencing a surge in popularity across the Philippines, attracting a diverse range of participants including families, fitness enthusiasts, and competitive athletes. The sport, which combines elements of tennis, badminton, and table tennis, is being embraced due to its accessible rules, social atmosphere, and ease of learning.
In Marikina City, Healthmate hosted the ‘Let’s Play Pickle!’ tournament at Dink & Shot on October 24. The event, themed ‘A Celebration of Wins & Wellness,’ aimed to promote proactive health management and community engagement through physical activity. Dr. Alvin John Francisco emphasized that the initiative seeks to demonstrate that maintaining wellness through sports can be both fun and meaningful.
The growth of the sport is supported by increasing availability in schools, private clubs, fitness centers, and dedicated venues. Local sports organizations are further driving participation through training sessions and community tournaments, making the sport accessible to various age groups, from children to seniors.
