Piešťany restores historical 1910 meteorological column

A historical meteorological column dating back to 1910 has been returned to its original location in front of Villa Arboria in Piešťany following a year-long restoration process. The monument, which had fallen into disrepair with rusted components and non-functional instruments, has been modernized to include a touch display.

The restoration project was spearheaded by the civic association Optimisti, which began efforts to save the structure in 2021 after discovering a lack of complete archival documentation. Funding for the reconstruction was secured through contributions from the residents of Piešťany and a 28,000 euro grant from the Trnava Region via its Regional Innovation and Development Agency.
