Piedigrotta Viva 2026 festival to celebrate Neapolitan traditions
The Piedigrotta Viva 2026 event, titled ‘Quann’era Piererotta’, will take place from September 11 to September 22. Under the artistic direction of Benedetto Casillo, the program features six free-entry meetings held across Naples, Marano di Napoli, and Torre del Greco.
The initiative aims to preserve the connection between music, faith, and popular memory. Performers including Mario Maglione, Antonello Rondi, Francesco Malapena, Marianita Carfora, Francesca Marini, and the Coro La Serenata will present traditional songs. Storytelling will be led by Benedetto Casillo, Luciano Piccolo, Enza Barra, and Gennaro Morrone, accompanied by guitarists Franco Ponzo and Claudio Romano.
Supported by the Campania Region and Scabec, the event is part of the ‘Piedigrotta Viva – Radici, Devozione e Innovazione’ project. The festival is recognized in the Inventory of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Campania (IPIC).
