Piedmont Democratic Party criticizes regional drought management

Domenico Rossi, regional secretary of the Democratic Party in Piedmont, has criticized the regional government regarding the management of drought and recent hail damage. Rossi accused the administration of providing contradictory communications and failing to provide clear resources to affected territories.

According to Rossi, while the regional government declared a state of emergency for water crises and forest fires on August 3, Environment Councilor Matteo Marnati recently suggested that such procedures are no longer useful, advising municipalities to seek aid directly from the national Agricat fund. Rossi questioned the purpose of the initial emergency declaration if regional funds are not being utilized. Additionally, political tension has arisen regarding compensation for hail damage in the Sesia hills, as current insurance coverage reportedly only addresses grape production losses and does not cover other agricultural damages.
