Piedmont ends maximum wildfire danger state

The Piedmont Region has announced the end of the maximum wildfire danger state across its territory, effective Friday, September 11, 2026. This decision follows assessments by the Arpa Piemonte regional functional center and the Regional Civil Protection sector, which determined that the conditions for maximum risk of forest fires and their propagation no longer exist.

The cessation of this high-risk status lifts specific regional prohibitions that had been in place since July 8, 2026. These included bans on lighting fires and using pyrotechnics within 100 meters of wooded, shrubby, or pasture lands.

Regional Councilor for Civil Protection Marco Gabusi noted that the improved conditions allow for the removal of restrictions intended to protect forest heritage and public safety. He added that while the lifting of bans is welcomed for local community events and celebrations, officials urge continued prudence and responsibility.
