Piedmont launches 2026-2027 COVID-19 vaccination campaign

The Piedmont Region has established guidelines for the 2026-2027 COVID-19 vaccination campaign, following recommendations from the Ministry of Health. The campaign will utilize an updated vaccine targeting the XFG variant of the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

Vaccinations will be free and available to all citizens. Priority for the initial phase of the campaign is given to individuals aged 80 and older, residents of long-term care facilities, highly fragile individuals—specifically those with significant immune system impairment—and healthcare workers.

Additional recommendations include people aged 60 and older, pregnant or postpartum women, and individuals aged 6 months to 59 years with high-risk clinical conditions such as chronic respiratory, cardiovascular, neurological, or metabolic diseases, as well as oncology patients and transplant recipients. Vaccination is also advised for caregivers and cohabitants of highly fragile individuals.
