Piedmont official denies hospital disinvestment claims

Piedmont Regional Health Councilor Federico Riboldi has addressed concerns regarding the distribution of healthcare resources, stating that there is no opposition between hospital services and territorial care. Responding to criticisms of potential disinvestment in hospitals, Riboldi clarified that the region is conducting a survey of personnel to ensure the professional distribution aligns with national standards.

Riboldi emphasized that hospital facilities are intended to manage acute and high-complexity cases, while the territorial network ensures proximity and continuity of care to reduce inappropriate hospital admissions. He noted that since 2019, regional healthcare personnel has increased by over 4,000 units, with personnel spending rising by approximately 90 million euros in the first half of 2026 compared to the same period in 2025. The review is part of the planning process following PNRR investments.
