Piedmont Regional Council reviews 2025 ombudsman reports

The Piedmont Regional Council has reviewed annual reports from several regional ombudsmen regarding their 2025 activities.

Regional Ombudsman Paola Baldovino reported a 25% increase in citizen requests, rising from 587 in 2024 to 776 in 2025. The majority of these cases, approximately 60%, pertain to personal services, with healthcare and socio-sanitary issues being the primary concern. Specifically, citizens reported difficulties in booking medical appointments and exams in accordance with priority codes. Baldovino emphasized the urgent need to make the new regional Unified Booking Center (Cup) operational.

Regarding the prison system, Regional Ombudsman Monica Formaiano noted an increase in the number of inmates participating in work programs but highlighted critical issues such as overcrowding, aging facilities, and the need for better specialized support for women, youth, and transgender individuals.

Additionally, Giovanni Ravalli, the Ombudsman for Children and Adolescents, focused his report on combating bullying and cyberbullying, as well as protecting minors in fragile family situations and unaccompanied foreign minors.
