Piedmont Region allocates 2 million euros to combat gender-based violence

The Piedmont Region has allocated over 2 million euros to strengthen its strategy against gender-based violence, focusing on transitioning victims from emergency protection toward long-term autonomy. The total funding of 2,007,500 euros includes 1,788,500 euros from the national strategic plan and 219,000 euros in regional funds specifically for economic independence.

The initiative targets four main areas: employment, housing, prevention, and the protection of minors who have witnessed violence. To address economic instability—noted by Telefono Rosa Piemonte as affecting 54% of women in their care—the region is dedicating 450,000 euros to job reintegration projects. These funds will support up to 15 projects involving training, internships, microcredit for entrepreneurship, and practical assistance such as obtaining driver's licenses.

Additionally, 219,000 euros will fund territorial networks led by anti-violence centers. These networks will utilize professional facilitators to connect women with employment centers and training services. The plan also includes 450,000 euros dedicated to housing autonomy to help women secure independent living arrangements.
