Piedmont Region Announces Nine New Sports Funding Programs
The Piedmont regional sports department, headed by assessor Paolo Bongioanni, presented nine new funding calls (bandi) that will be published in the first ten days of October and will finance activities and expenses for the 2026 season. The measures were unveiled at the Grattacielo Piemonte building in a meeting with the regional branches of the Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI), 50 sport federations and 15 sport promotion entities (EPS).
The grants cover a wide range of initiatives: "Sport for All", disability sport, elite excellence programmes, major sporting events, Gran Fondo and marathon cycling, ski‑club support, strategic winter‑sport projects, traditional Piedmontese sports and general sport promotion. They aim to fund daily costs for clubs, organise tournaments, develop youth talent, support athletes with disabilities and encourage winter‑sport participation among students. CONI regional president Stefano Mossino praised the plan as the most comprehensive ever created for amateur sport in Piedmont.
