Italian regions advance autonomy measures and port reforms
Italian regional governments are advancing legislative measures regarding differentiated autonomy. In Piedmont, the Regional Council approved a resolution to implement autonomy agreements with the State. The proposed competencies to be transferred include civil protection, professional sectors, supplementary social security, health protection, and public finance coordination.
In another development regarding regional interests, the Italian government's Transport Commission rejected an amendment intended to protect the status of the Trieste and Monfalcone ports as international free ports. This decision, which aims to reform national port regulations, has drawn criticism from opposition members who argue it undermines the specific logistical and autonomous prerogatives of the Adriatic Sea Eastern Port System Authority.
