Piedmont tourism: Airbnb generates €15.7 million in small towns

A report by The European House – Ambrosetti for Airbnb highlights the economic impact of short-term rentals in small Piedmontese municipalities. In towns with fewer than 30,000 inhabitants, Airbnb guests generated 15.7 million euros in tourism spending last year.

Domestic tourism serves as a primary driver for these less-visited areas, with Italian travelers accounting for 74% of guests, compared to 26% from abroad. Small villages, including Montecrestese, Locana, and Ornavasso, benefit significantly from this influx. In Montecrestese specifically, Airbnb guests generated over 62,800 euros in tourism spending in 2025.
