Piedras Blancas mayor protests loss of emergency health services

Jorge Fabricio Mesquida, the mayor of Piedras Blancas in the La Paz department, has expressed deep concern regarding the termination of emergency medical services at the Teresa Schreiner Health Center. The decision by the Ministry of Health of Entre Ríos to end a 2022 collaboration agreement will result in the loss of night shifts from Monday to Friday, as well as 24-hour coverage on weekends and holidays.

Under the previous agreement, the Ministry provided passive guard coverage while the Municipality of Piedras Blancas supplied human resources, including three nurses, an ambulance driver, and an administrative staff member. The municipality also assisted with building maintenance and ambulance operations. Following the Ministry's decision, the health center will now operate exclusively from 07:00 to 19:00.
