Piedras Negras authorities investigate stabbing and inmate death
In Piedras Negras, Coahuila, a 31-year-old man named José Manuel was hospitalized in serious condition following a stabbing during an alleged fight. The victim returned to his home in the Año 2000 neighborhood bleeding from a significant wound before being taken to Clínica 11 of the IMSS by his family. According to his mother, the victim identified his assailant as an acquaintance known as ‘El Bebé’. The State Attorney General's Office has launched an investigation to clarify the circumstances and identify the responsible party.
Separately, authorities in Piedras Negras confirmed the death of inmate Rubén Jiménez Orozco at the local Reinsertion Center. Following a request for medical attention, Jiménez Orozco was transported to the Salvador Chavarría General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. A necropsy determined the cause of death to be cardiogenic shock related to pre-existing conditions, including a tumor. The State Attorney General's Office is conducting an investigation and awaiting laboratory results to rule out other contributing factors.
