Piedras Negras Independence Day celebrations face organizational issues

Independence Day celebrations in Piedras Negras, Coahuila, faced organizational challenges despite a high turnout. The event, led by Mayor Jacobo Rodríguez, was estimated to cost approximately 8 million pesos.

Issues included restricted access and poor crowd distribution. Large areas near the stage remained cordoned off by fences, leaving central spaces empty while many attendees were kept outside. During the performance by singer Gabito Ballesteros, the artist requested the removal of the barriers to allow the crowd closer, leading to a sudden shift in the security and seating arrangement. Additionally, the event experienced technical difficulties when the audio system failed momentarily during the concert.
