Piedras Negras Mayor addresses budget spending and safety protocols

Jacobo Rodríguez, the mayor of Piedras Negras, has addressed municipal spending and public safety measures. Regarding the city's budget, which is near 1,000 million pesos, Rodríguez acknowledged that the administration has slowed asphalt purchases and limited spending to manage upcoming adjustments in participation funds. He noted that resources have been diverted to educational support, including approximately 10 million pesos for school roofing, air conditioning programs, and electrical repairs, which has resulted in fewer funds for paving, street lighting, and urban image projects.

Separately, the mayor issued a call for citizens to respect safety tape in high-risk zones, particularly during emergencies. He emphasized that ignoring these perimeters can lead to serious accidents, citing past fatalities and the city's geographical risks involving streams and the Rio Bravo. Rodríguez reminded the public that drivers who bypass these safety markings have faced sanctions in the past.
