Jacobo Rodríguez, the mayor of Piedras Negras, has taken a five-day vacation amid ongoing challenges facing his administration. The municipal government is currently managing several issues, including water supply contingencies, operational problems with Simas, and questions regarding public works and finances.
Additionally, auditors are currently reviewing the municipality's 2025 fiscal year. City Secretary Daniel Aguilar confirmed the formal leave, noting that municipal departments will continue to operate under their respective officials during the mayor's absence. Aguilar stated that Rodríguez remains available by telephone should urgent matters arise.
