Piedras Negras municipal accounts undergo state audit
The Auditoría Superior del Estado de Coahuila (ASEC) has begun auditing the 2025 fiscal year accounts for the municipality of Piedras Negras. The audit follows months of tension within the local council, where regidores have previously voted against financial reports and raised questions regarding public spending, service contracts, and expenses related to the 2025 Feria del Norte.
Mayor Jacobo Rodríguez described the audit as an ordinary procedure part of the state's annual inspection program. He stated that the review of public investment has concluded and the focus has shifted to current spending from municipal resources. Rodríguez noted that the administration has provided the requested documentation and emphasized that digital processes have facilitated the review. He rejected claims that the audit is a direct result of failed financial approvals, asserting that the municipality remains transparent and ready to address any observations made by the auditing body.
