Piedras Negras police face allegations of abuse and negligence

Multiple allegations of misconduct and negligence have been leveled against the municipal police in Piedras Negras, Coahuila.

One individual, Manuel Osbaldo Salas Borrego, is reportedly in serious condition at Salvador Chavarría Hospital after allegedly being bitten by a black widow spider while in municipal custody. Salas Borrego claims that despite reporting the bite to officers, he was released without medical assistance. Local officials have stated they were unaware of the detention or the medical emergency.

Separately, Jesús Pérez Sánchez has filed a complaint with the Coahuila State Human Rights Commission, alleging repeated physical abuse and unlawful detentions by municipal officers. Pérez Sánchez claims he has been subjected to beatings and verbal threats during multiple encounters with police, including a recent incident near the Mercado de los Dulces. He is seeking intervention from human rights authorities regarding these recurring aggressions.
