Piedras Negras stabbing: Nine minors detained after attack on teenager

An 18-year-old man, identified as David Alexander Esquivel Chávez, is recovering in the hospital after being stabbed during Independence Day celebrations in Piedras Negras, Coahuila. The attack occurred around 1:00 AM near the Macroplaza 2 sports courts following a brawl. The victim suffered a penetrating wound to the chest that perforated a lung and required emergency surgery.

Authorities have detained nine adolescents, aged between 14 and 17, in connection with the incident. These minors are being investigated for their alleged involvement in the brawl and for violence directed at security forces during the police intervention.

The Coahuila State Attorney General's Office (FGE) and the Criminal Investigation Agency are reviewing witness footage and social media recordings to identify the specific individual who used the knife. A suspect known by the nickname ‘El Chamuco’ has been identified by police as a probable participant in the assault.
