Piekoszów residents initiate signature collection for mayoral referendum
In the municipality of Piekoszów, a group of opponents has begun collecting signatures to initiate a referendum aimed at removing Mayor Teresa Jakubowska from office.
Critics allege that Jakubowska neglects the needs of residents, ignores public opinion, and has implemented tax increases. Specific grievances include a lack of transparent dialogue, insufficient support for local entrepreneurs, and a failure to address issues regarding a local biogas plant. There are also concerns regarding the management of municipal investments and the setting of local government priorities.
Mayor Jakubowska has dismissed these allegations as baseless political maneuvers intended to seize power. She maintains that the municipality is in a strong financial position, noting that the local debt has decreased by 4.6 million PLN and that significant investments are ongoing. She further accused the referendum initiators, specifically councilman Dariusz Bielicz, of spreading misinformation and attacking municipal officials.
