Piemonte court allows hunting of pheasant and quail
The TAR Piemonte has rejected a request from environmental associations to suspend the hunting of mountain pheasant and quail. In ordinance number 565/26, the court overturned a previous precautionary measure from October that had halted the harvesting of these two species.
The decision follows a period of legal disputes regarding regional hunting regulations and wildlife monitoring. While the hunting of mountain pheasant and quail can now proceed, the suspension on the hunting of the white partridge remains in effect.
A merit hearing is scheduled for December 16, where the court will evaluate the legitimacy of the hunting calendar. The court noted that current monitoring processes, which include both spring and summer assessments to determine reproductive success, address concerns regarding the impact of summer weather and wildfires on wildlife populations.
