Italian regional economies show mixed export and tourism trends
Various Italian regions report mixed economic indicators for the second quarter of 2026. Veneto saw export growth of 3.2%, reaching 20.9 billion euros, though the wine sector and trade with OPEC countries faced declines. In Abruzzo, exports rose by 8.3% to 6.15 billion euros, driven largely by a 30.3% surge in the pharmaceutical sector.
In Trentino, company turnover increased by 4.3%, with strong performance in transport and wholesale trade. Meanwhile, the tourism sector showed a trend of fewer arrivals but longer stays, with total presences increasing by 3.9% due to strong international demand.
In the agricultural sector, pig farmers face challenges despite rising prices, citing high costs and competition from Mercosur countries. Additionally, milk spot prices in Milan and Verona have seen recent decreases.
