Piemonte officials discuss strategic doubling of Monte Bianco Tunnel

Alberto Cirio, President of the Piemonte Region, has met with Emily Rini, President of Sitmb, to discuss the strategic doubling of the Monte Bianco Tunnel. Cirio described the project as a vital component for Italy, particularly for the Northwest, to ensure modern and secure connections to France and the rest of Europe to support exports.

A bilateral working group consisting of relevant ministries from both Italy and France has been established to advance the project. The goal is to evaluate various enhancement options, including the tunnel doubling, ahead of an intergovernmental commission meeting scheduled in Rome this December.
