Pier Luigi Bersani calls for center-left primaries and new program

Former Democratic Party secretary Pier Luigi Bersani has called for the immediate activation of primary elections to unify the center-left. Speaking at the Festa del Fatto Quotidiano, Bersani emphasized the need for a clear, concise political program consisting of 10 to 15 actionable points rather than an extensive document.

Bersani criticized the failure to capitalize on the political cooperation seen during the second Conte government, which he believes left the center-left in a position of chasing agreements rather than leading them. He also voiced opposition to increasing military spending to 5%, arguing that the estimated 20 billion euros should instead be allocated to healthcare.
