Pier Silvio Berlusconi faces Supreme Court ruling in chef's wage dispute

The legal dispute between Pier Silvio Berlusconi and his former chef, Giacomo Canale, is heading to the Italian Supreme Court (Corte di Cassazione) for a final decision on September 29.

Canale is seeking over 500,000 euros in unpaid compensation for overtime, holiday pay, and night shifts allegedly accumulated during his 11-year tenure serving the Berlusconi family. His employment included working on family yachts and at the private residence in Paraggi, Liguria, from 2010 to 2018.

The conflict stems from a 2019 agreement in which Canale received a lump sum in exchange for waiving future economic claims. However, the chef has challenged the validity of that document, arguing he signed it under severe economic necessity and without adequate legal protection. He further claims that a union representative present during the signing was not fully informed of the agreement's details.
