Piera Stornelli appointed commander of Lecco Carabinieri Reparto Operativo

Lieutenant Colonel Piera Stornelli has assumed command of the Reparto Operativo for the Carabinieri Provincial Command of Lecco. Stornelli, a law graduate who began her military career in 2003, previously served as the commander of the Carabinieri Company in Biella. Her appointment makes her one of only three female officers currently holding such a position at a national level.

Regional Councilor Giacomo Zamperini of Fratelli d’Italia welcomed the appointment, noting the importance of the role in maintaining security and legality within the territory. Zamperini highlighted recent successful operations by the Carabinieri against drug trafficking in the forested areas of Lecco, which involved the deployment of the Squadrone Eliportato Cacciatori 'Calabria'.
