Pierangelo Conte appointed Superintendent of Teatro Comunale di Bologna

Pierangelo Conte has been appointed as the new Superintendent of the Teatro Comunale di Bologna, effective October 27, 2026. The appointment was made by Culture Minister Alessandro Giuli following a unanimous proposal from the Foundation's Steering Committee, chaired by Mayor Matteo Lepore.

Conte, who has served as the theater's Artistic Director since July 2025, succeeds Elisabetta Riva. The transition aims to ensure continuity for the institution during a significant period, including the upcoming reopening of the theater in February 2027. Conte noted that the decision was driven by a desire for stability during a delicate historical phase for the venue.

Under his leadership, the theater plans to expand its repertoire, including the integration of baroque and contemporary works. Conte previously held key artistic roles at Teatro La Fenice in Venice and Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino in Florence.
