Pierfrancesco Majorino announces candidacy for Milan mayor

Pierfrancesco Majorino, the Democratic Party group leader in the Lombardy Regional Council, has officially announced his candidacy in the center-left primaries to select the mayoral candidate for Milan for the 2027 municipal elections.

Majorino intends to focus his campaign on several key issues, including the cost of living, housing, employment, and political responses to the climate crisis. He emphasized a vision of putting people at the center of governance and expressed support for holding primaries to allow coalition parties to choose their candidate.

Majorino's political background includes serving as the assessor for social policies in the administration led by Giuliano Pisapia from 2011 to 2019. He also recently ran for the presidency of the Lombardy Region in 2023, where he secured 34% of the vote.
