Pieria Fairy Tale Festival held at Katerini Tobacco Station

The 2nd Pieria Fairy Tale Festival took place from September 18 to September 20, 2026, at the Katerini Tobacco Station courtyard. The three-day event focused on the value of oral tradition, featuring nine traditional fairy tales from regions including Pontus, Pergamum, Asia Minor, Eastern Rumelia, and the Balkans.

Organized in collaboration with the Union of Pontians of Pieria and several local volunteer and cultural groups, the festival utilized storytelling and music to connect audiences with historical values such as kindness, perseverance, and social justice. Participants highlighted the role of fairy tales as a counterweight to the modern digital age and passive information consumption.

The event also served a social purpose, collecting food donations for the local Social Pantry. Performers included Mimis Symeonidis, Kiki Evmoridou, Popi Panagiotidou, and Zina Alexandridou, who presented stories such as ‘The Leilougousra’ and tales from Argyroupoli.
