Pierpaolo Roberti discusses security and regional governance in Trieste
Regional Councilor Pierpaolo Roberti addressed security and local autonomy during meetings in Trieste. In an event hosted by the Lions Club Miramar, Roberti emphasized the need for a governance method capable of addressing complex territorial issues with seriousness and transparency, rather than relying on simplistic slogans.
Roberti also commented on the Trieste Police Headquarters' ordinance regarding Piazza della Libertà. He defended the regulations, stating that activities such as cooking, distributing food, playing music, and waving flags in a public square constitute a manifestation that must be regulated. He argued that while the right to demonstrate is guaranteed, it must not infringe upon the rights of others to enjoy public spaces, noting that the police's prescriptions are necessary to prevent ideological conflicts from overriding public order.
