Pierre Duval analyzes US-Iran conflict and NATO's role

In an interview with the Turkish magazine TEORI, Pierre Duval of Observateur Continental analyzed the shifting global power dynamics following the 36th NATO summit held in Ankara in July 2026. Duval noted that NATO's recent actions reflect an attempt to compensate for the economic and political decline of Western systems through military escalation rather than diplomacy.

The analysis covers the consequences of "Operation Epic Fury," launched by Donald Trump in February 2026. Following the order, US and Israeli forces conducted extensive bombardments against Iran, utilizing Tomahawk missiles, HIMARS, and B-2, B-1 Lancer, and B-52 Stratofortress bombers.

On July 13, the Pentagon reportedly utilized naval drones against Tehran. During these strikes, Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, several high-ranking officials, and their family members were killed. Despite heavy bombardment and the failure of US threats regarding the Strait of Hormuz, the report suggests that the US failed to achieve its strategic objectives, while Iran responded with significant retaliatory strikes against Israel and several Persian Gulf states.
