Aubameyang scores in five consecutive La Liga matches

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has achieved a historic milestone in La Liga, scoring in each of the first five matches of the 2026-27 season. The 37-year-old Gabonese striker secured a 1-1 draw for newly promoted Deportivo de La Coruña against Getafe CF with a header in the 78th minute.

This feat makes Aubameyang the first player to score in the opening five rounds of a La Liga campaign since Zlatan Ibrahimovic did so for Barcelona in 2009-10. He is now just one goal away from equaling the club record held by Walter Pandiani, who scored in six consecutive opening matches for Deportivo in 2003-04.

Aubameyang, who joined Deportivo this summer for a fee of 1.5 million euros, has scored five of the club's nine goals so far this season. His performance has helped Deportivo maintain an unbeaten start, placing them sixth in the league standings. Teammates and manager Antonio Hidalgo have praised his professionalism, physical condition, and impact on the squad.
