Newcastle United targets Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg from Marseille

Newcastle United is reportedly nearing an agreement to sign midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg from Olympique de Marseille. The 31-year-old Danish international has reportedly given his consent for a return to the Premier League, with Newcastle seeking an experienced leader to stabilize their midfield following the departures of Bruno Guimarães to Arsenal and Sandro Tonali to Tottenham.

Marseille is currently managing significant financial pressures and is looking to reduce its wage bill. An imminent transfer could see Newcastle pay approximately €14-15 million for the player. While OM would receive a significant fee, they must pay a 20% sell-on clause to Hojbjerg's former club, Tottenham, which would result in a net gain of roughly €11 million for the French side.

In addition to Hojbjerg, Marseille is involved in several other transfer movements. Players like Facundo Medina, Geronimo Rulli, and Nayef Aguerd are also linked with departures. Meanwhile, striker Amine Gouiri is reportedly weighing his future at the club due to concerns over squad depth following several player exits.
