Pierre Gasly demands respect following collision with Franco Colapinto
Pierre Gasly has stated that mutual respect is the essential condition for maintaining a functional relationship with teammate Franco Colapinto at Alpine following a collision during the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
The incident occurred on the Baku street circuit when Colapinto attempted an inside maneuver, resulting in locked tires and a collision that forced both Alpine cars out of the race. The accident also involved McLaren's Lando Norris. The double retirement was particularly costly for Alpine, as the team had demonstrated competitive pace and was positioned to secure valuable points for the constructors' championship.
While Colapinto offered immediate apologies for the maneuver, the incident follows previous tensions between the two drivers during the Madrid race. Gasly noted that while the situation is difficult, he believes a productive partnership is possible as long as respect is maintained.
