Pierre-Jean Chalençon to face trial in Paris for racist insults

Pierre-Jean Chalençon, a former presenter on the France 2 program ‘Affaire conclue’, is scheduled to appear before the Paris criminal court on January 13, 2027. He faces charges of public racist insult and public incitement to hatred.

The legal proceedings stem from a video released in May following disturbances related to a Champions League match in Paris. In the footage, Chalençon referred to those allegedly involved in the unrest as ‘islamists’.

The case was initiated after LFI deputy Thomas Portes referred the matter to the Paris prosecutor. Additionally, the Ligue de Défense des Valeurs Républicaines filed a complaint and has joined the proceedings as a civil party.
